Here is more information around Flock Safety Data Retention, please see attachment as well which is very useful: At a high level, Flock’s default LPR data retention policy is: • Default retention is 30 days. License plate reader (LPR) data collected by Flock cameras is stored for 30 days by default, then hard deleted on a rolling basis in accordance with the agency’s configured retention period. • Extended retention is available where required or approved. If an agency is legally required by state or local law to retain LPR data longer than 30 days, Flock will configure a longer retention period to match that requirement (e.g., some states mandate 90 days or more). • If longer retention is not mandated by law, agencies can request extended retention (up to one year) with documented approval from a democratically elected governing body or official (e.g., city council, county commission, elected sheriff). There is an additional subscription cost per camera for extended retention. • No “cold storage” beyond the retention period. Flock does not keep LPR data beyond the retention setting that applies to that agency’s network. Once data ages out of the configured retention window, it is permanently deleted and is no longer accessible or retrievable by Flock or the customer. For Public Records / PRA requests related to Flock scans: • Flock data is only available within your configured retention window (e.g., 30 days by default, or your extended period if you have one). Requests for data older than that
window generally cannot be fulfilled because the underlying records no longer exist in the Flock system. • When agencies need Flock data preserved beyond the normal retention period in anticipation of litigation, subpoenas, or complex PRA/FOIA matters, they can work through Flock’s Evidence Division (via Kodex) to submit a legal or preservation request so specific data can be preserved before it expires under the standard retention policy. • Once exported, those records become part of your records and should be retained and produced according to your own records retention schedule and PRA policies.
